PROJECT GOALS
To build an administrative building for the Emmanuel Care and Advice Centre on the current site from which they operate.
DETAILS
Located in Kwanoxolo Township, Port Elizabeth, South Africa
The project, which has 33 home based carers, over 600 hundred clients who are infected or affected with HIV, runs support groups for the aged, orphans, vulnerable children and AIDS sufferers.
Currently it has half a 40ft container to run its projects from. A decent (though small) admin block will allow the project to function far more adequately.
The funds raised will provide a more permanent structure, with power and telephone lines, out of which Emmanuel staff and volunteers can serve their clients needs.
DELIVERY PARTNER
Building of the admin block will be facilitated by Emmanuel staff and monitored by Calabash Trust. 2 Emmanuel board members come from the construction industry. Labour will be drawn from the local community, strengthen community ties with the project.
Emmanuel is the centre of hope for local people. Supported and working with the Dept. of Social Services it carries the local mandate for home-based care in the area. Over 600 clients (infected or affected by HIV) and close to 500 orphans and vulnerable children are dependent on the centre. The board of Trustees are drawn from the community, to ensure the organisation remains a rooted Community Based Organisation.
